The Letter to Hebrews is one of the richest theological writings in the New Testament. This series of forty brief studies takes the reader through the Letter systematically.

In these studies you have the opportunity of asking what it means for you that Jesus is a great high priest. The author of Hebrews engages his reader by inviting his or her personal involvement. For he is not saying merely that 'there is a great high priest', but that 'we have a great high priest' (Heb 4.14). He wants to move us beyond acknowledgement of Jesus' high priesthood to embrace Jesus in his high priestly work for us personally.

The starting point is to acknowledge Jesus' high priestly sacrifice to deal with our sins 'once and for all' at Golgotha. Beyond that, however, Jesus is now seated on God's right where he continues to carry out his high-priestly work for us today. Consequently, whenever we draw near to God's gracious throne through him in faith he is always there to save us 'to the uttermost' (Heb 7.25).
