Noel Vose:
Pastor, Principal, President
A biography of Godfrey Noel Vose
(b. 23 Dec 1921)
In these pages the remarkable life story of a ‘man of God’ is told, explaining how in his early teen years Noel Vose responded to the call of God on his life, hesitantly at first, but with increasing confidence in the grace of God to carry through the work He had begun in His servant’s life. From unpromising beginnings in one of the most geographically isolated places in the world, and in spite of a major hearing impediment, he undertook pastoral training and ministry interstate, before returning to his own State to continue in pastoral ministry and engage in tertiary studies for the better part of a decade. During this period he married and he and his wife raised a family. Higher studies in theology then necessitated almost four years of studies overseas. He returned as Founding Principal of the Baptist Theological College of Western Australia, bringing to his enlarged ministry the benefit of this wider experience. His duties as Principal led to national and later international involvements. His God-given gifts were recognized in both spheres through his appointment as President-General of the Baptist Union of Australia (1975-1978) and later as President of the Baptist World Alliance (1985-1990) respectively. In retirement he founded a new congregation not far from his home, pastoring it for five years, while continuing other commitments, particularly his involvement with the Baptist World Alliance.
